At peak temperature we add a mixture of baking soda, salt and sawdust which vaporizes instantly and forms a textured glassy glaze on everything in the kiln. This “soda” glaze hits each pot differently, often forming two distinct sides to the piece and unexpected patterns.
All our wood fired pottery is glazed on the interior making it functional, waterproof and food safe even if the exterior has a matte surface.
